Nancy Drew (2002): Review

While Maggie Lawson shines, the film lacks a truly compelling mystery!

The story line in this movie had a lot of potential when it started. I really thought that there was going to be a much bigger mystery, but it turned out to be a massive dud! There wasn't really a lot of character development for Nancy's friends either, which was a disappointment!

Maggie Lawson did a great job as a more mature Nancy Drew. She was born to play a detective, as shown by her very memorable portrayal of Juliet 'Jules' O'Hara in Psych! Brett Cullen did a good job as Carson Drew, but I had a feeling he would, as he is a very professional actor! I can't really compliment anyone else's performances, as none of the other actor's really stood out!

I could've seen them doing a sequel and making it a lot better, but they really need to stick with adapting the books, instead of trying to come up with a whole new story line. Or maybe they should try doing what the  video games did, and combine multiple books into one story line, the video games were really good at that!

Out of 4 stars I would give it...

2 out of 4 stars
